This class celebrates the unique joys of your growing child. Each week we sing, dance, and play instruments with new friends. Your child will have fun practicing a wide variety of abilities that include gross and fine motor skills, turn-taking, social skills and active listening. We'll also share tips and ideas for using music throughout the week. Kindermusik home materials are included, and give you a CD, Family Activity Guide with stories, games and activities from class, and an instrument.From dancing with your baby to hearing your child's rhythmic beating on a drum, Kindermusik is that one special place where you and your child can play, sing, dance and explore together. The variety of musical activities and experiences in our classes give you and your child many ways to play and explore in a relaxed and supportive setting. Together we nurture your child's natural gifts, planting the seeds for a lifetime of learning and joyful music making. Only registered children and non-mobile siblings allowed in class. Other siblings not registered should attend the childcare room for a minimal additional daily fee.
This is a class of fun and exploration, which allows students to get more in depth with distinct subject areas, like science, art, literature, geography, history and much more! Developed around the Reggio philosophy carried out in the preschool, the children's interests will spark exciting and fascinating projects! Join us for lunch and an activity before or after Kinderhaven classes! Pack your child a nutritious peanut free lunch, and they will have time to eat with their friends, do a fun 'food' activity and enjoy some free play with their friends.
Each week we will put on our 'Artist's Glasses' and examine different artists' work in order to discover techniques and themes. We will look for common themes and components and complete an art activity based on what we find. A great opportunity for your child to take his/her artistic abilities to the next level and to generate and expand their knowledge of the artists.
This class will examine the science behind fairytales. Is the brick house really the sturdiest house of the three pigs? We will involve the children in hands-on science projects, examining the science behind the fairytales. Jack in the Beanstalk? We will see if we can grow a giant beanstalk! Goldilocks and the Three Bears? We will see how fast porridge cools! There will be many, many more fun and exciting fairytales and science experiments behind them! Bring a peanut-free snack.
Here's a chance for you and your child to get to know and enjoy the parks of Lake Forest. Each week we will meet at a different park playground to utilize and explore it's equipment. Circle time with songs and finger plays and a simple art project will end each class. A list of the rotating parks will be sent to you before the first class. Come to the beach for some fun in the sun with your little ones. After some open play time on the beach, each week we will enjoy a new theme expressed through circle, parachute and craft time. Let your child discover new things about themselves and their surrounds this summer at Summer Discovery. This camp has a low-key, non-competitive yet structured atmosphere geared to the needs, interests and skills of the young child. The campers will develop new friendships, discover and strengthen physical capabilities, explore the environment and learn cooperation and teamwork. Weekly activities will include games, arts and crafts, nature and science activities, creative movement and music, and story time. A low counselor-child ratio is maintained to personalize the activities, to ensure safety and to encourage each child's sense of well-being so each child can grow into a healthy and happy camper while having a lot of FUN! A parent manual describing the program in detail will be made available prior to the start of camp.
