Youth Wheel Camp - 30440106

This week long wheel camp is for children who are interested in learning about the potter's wheel and developing the skills required in wheel throwing. Wheel Campers will learn to spin the wheel, making bowls, mugs and plates. No experience is necessary to take part in this one of a kind camp opportunity.Please bring a "Peanut Free" lunch each day of camp. Children will return for their projects. Twigs Art Camp - 30449901

Spend your summer at TWIGS Day Camp and jump into the arts. Campers will be able to take advantage of the state of the art ceramics facility at Stirling Hall on a daily basis using a variety of art mediums to develop weekly projects. They will also learn all about the performing arts of theatre and dance. Campers will then get to present what they have learned at the TWIGS Showcase held at the end of summer were children get to show off their projects and perform for their guests. That’s not all. TWIGS campers will have an opportunity to participate in active games, weekly trips to the beach and multiple field trips throughout the summer. Beginner Wheel Throwing - 30460101

Do you like to get your hands dirty now and then? Come join us for a weekly session of creativity and exploration as we learn to create basic pottery shapes such as the bowl, cup and vase using both the pottery wheel and handbuilding techniques. Experiment with color and texture using glazes, slips, stains and more. Create at your own pace, regardless of skill level or experience. Students choose to have their artwork fired in our high-fire gas kiln, our Soda kiln or various low-fire methods including Raku and pit-fire (weather and student interest permitting). Included in the class fee are 25 lbs. of clay, firings, high-fire glazes and ample open studio time. Students need to supply their own personal hand tools available for purchase at Stirling.

Mosaics - 30460105

Fulfill your mosaic dreams and discover new dimensions for the art form. Learn how to create and undulated substrate for your mosaic. Learn how to create a sculpture form especially for mosaic and create great pieces of art for your home and garden. All the basic and advance techniques are covered including choosing correct substrates, tile design layout, cutting, adhesion and grouting. As well as the opportunity to work in glass and other materials, at Stirling Hall you have access to a full ceramic facility so you may be able to make low relief ceramic tiles to customize your work. Open studio time are included in the class fee. Most tools provided. Additional tools are available for purchase at Stirling Hall. Beginner and experienced mosaic artists are welcome.

In this 10 week class, students will work on transforming a photograph into a mosaic using a special technique for creating realistic landscape through mosaic. A printed colored picture of the desired landscape in the same dimensions as the desired final product is required.
